Lizard Skin

Bailie brought in an interesting news item to share - a shed lizard skin! Check out the close-up photos below:

Why do some lizards shed their skin?
Are there other creatures that shed their skin?
What are they?

  1. Bailie,
Your lizard skin looks interesting. Was it hard and dry or wet and moist? We think snakes shed their skin.
We recently watched our caterpillars shed their chrysalis and we released them as beautiful butterflies. Actually it's called molting in an insect. But we thought it would be similiar.
