Aurora Australis

Aurora Australis down South!  We had a look at the amazing images of Aurora Australis this morning as a prompt for our writing.  We loved the colours - "they look like all the colours of the rainbow", said Eli and Lukaz.

Thank you EzCover!

We are thrilled to bits with our EzCovers from www.ezcover.co.nz.  We were sent 100 covers after EzCover saw our class blog - they thought it was really cool!

Check out our flash books covers - we love all the designs!

Bailie gets ready to use her newly covered Writing book!  Such cute animals!

The EzCovers were put straight onto our books this morning - they make our books look really cool because of the awesome designs on them!  Pirates, animals, soccer balls, and skateboarders just to name a few!

Thanks to Bryce and the EzCover team for the covers - we appreciate you visiting our blog and we look forward to learning in our EzCovered books!

Trip to the Creek

To conclude our Why Wai? unit, we went on a trip to a creek on a local farm (thanks to Corey and Tyler's family). We had a 20 minute walk to the creek and we could even see a waterfall in the distance. Lots of fun was had throwing stones into the creek and playing around (and in!) the creek. Check out the photos from the trip.

Mainland Adopt a Penguin

Mainland Yellow Eyed Penguin - Week 1 on PhotoPeach

To celebrate Mainland's 21-year sponsorship of the Yellow-eyed Penguin trust, Mainland are giving all New Zealand primary schools the chance to win over $10,000 in prizes during Term 2 2012.

Watch our class's adopted virtual penguin (Toko) grow as we compete with other classes to collect Mainland yellow-eyed penguin labels, and turn our class into yellow-eyed penguin pros with weekly fun and engaging information sheets and class activities.

All we have to do is collect Mainland yellow-eyed penguin labels from our class's friends and families each week for the chance to win great prizes.

So look out for the labels on Mainland products from the beginning of Term 2.  Families and friends can keep up with our progress here.
