Welcome Back to Term 2!

It is great to see everyone back, looking refreshed and ready for this term.  It sounds like there were some great holiday adventures and plenty of Easter eggs consumed!

Just a reminder to check your home/school scrapbooks for any activities to do at home or notes from me.  Spelling will be back up and running again as soon as I get my laptop back - hopefully by tomorrow.

If you have any questions or need to speak with me about your child/ren, please don't hesitate to contact me at school.

Creating music for the iMove competition!

We are entering an iMove song competition.  Students are working in groups to write lyrics, create music, and make a video of their performance.  Our school has the opportunity to win $500 dollars worth of sports equipment!

Here are some of the students working co-operatively on their songs:

Tyrone, Gianlucca, and  Archie writing lyrics.

Jordan and Brooklyn adding some recorder and shaker music to their song.
Meghana strums the guitar while Annabelle sings her heart out to the rhythm of the bells.
Josh, Domonic, Aymee, Charlotte, and Tessa are a five strong band!

Grandpa Poem

We have been exploring some poetry.  We really like poetry when it is read aloud to us so we get pictures in our minds about what the poet is trying to tell us.

Today we read the poem 'Grandpa'.

Grandpa

Grandpa's hands are as rough as garden sacks
And as warm as pockets.
His skin is crushed paper round his eyes
Wrapping up their secrets.

Berlie Doherty

Do you like this poem?
What do you like about it?
What do you think the poet's message is? What part of the poem makes you think this?

Fans of horses and the 'Pony Pals' series will enjoy this website.
Have some fun 'Flitting with Fractions'.
Ever wondered about how a cow's 4 stomachs work?  Check it out here.
Use a net and a microscope to explore a pond.  Some amazing creatures to discover here.
Let some cars make some music!?  Sounds funny, but it is lots of fun!

Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No it's...

We have had some good guesses so far, but no joy yet!

Clue:  I am an object used every day in Room 1.  I am available in many colours, shapes, and sizes.
What am I?

Happy Birthday Mikah!

Mikah turned 9 today!  Her wonderful mum made a delicious looking (and tasting) cake.  Mikah kindly gave everyone in Room 1 a piece of cake.

Mikah blew her candles out!
A beautiful marshmallow flower.
