Ag Day 2013
While the weather wasn't too kind to us, we had plenty of community support with everyone turning up on the day to watch us compete and buy lots of goodies from all the stalls!

Printmaking
As part of our unit looking at endangered animals in New Zealand, we created some prints inspired by the animals, their habitats, and New Zealand.
These prints will be used for fundraising - contact the office to get your orders in for calendars, cards, and diaries.
Check out some of these links on our blog for more information about the animals and birds we have been focusing on:

Maths: The Cost of Building
For Maths today we were learning some geometry language like 'cube' and 'face'. The context we were looking at this through was buildings.
We had several tasks to complete in our groups, including working out the cost of building materials and paint.
Check out some of the tasks below and see if you can solve the problems:
Each cube that is on the ground (1st story floor) costs $10
2nd story cube - $15
3rd story cube - $20
4th story cube - $25
What would these buildings cost?
What would the most expensive building cost?

Welcome to Room 1, Mr Morrimire!
We are lucky enough to have a student teacher in our class for 6 weeks! Mr Morrimire will be joining us for 2 weeks this term and 4 weeks next term. He has already brought us microscopes to use in class for looking at all sorts of things - we have already started collecting bugs to explore close up.
A big Tokomaru welcome to Mr Morrimire!
Jordan peers into the microscope to see what she can see! |

Touch Rugby
Yesterday we had some fabulous representatives from Shannon Touch teach us some basic skills in Touch Rugby. We got to play a game at the end to put those skills into practice:
Playing a warm-up game - 'Blob Tag' |
Tyler and Josh practice passing quickly. |
Zion passes to Natalia. |
Ella steps over the ball so the dummy half can receive it. |
Ella runs up! |
Shampagne went for a run but O'Meara-Jean managed to make the touch. |
