Touch Rugby

Yesterday we had some fabulous representatives from Shannon Touch teach us some basic skills in Touch Rugby.  We got to play a game at the end to put those skills into practice:

Playing a warm-up game - 'Blob Tag'
Tyler and Josh practice passing quickly.
Zion passes to Natalia.
Ella steps over the ball so the dummy half can receive it.
Ella runs up!
Shampagne went for a run but O'Meara-Jean managed to make the touch.

Cameron's Book Review

Geronimo Stilton: The Thirteen Ghosts

A mouse called Billy lives in a mansion and he hasn't been in all the rooms yet.

Creepella Von Cackle Fear was searching for the 13 ghosts. Creepella wants to go in Billy’s mansion to search for the ghosts.  She first saw Billy when she saw a tail poking through  some rubbish. So Billy takes Creepella to the mansion and in every room he faints because he hadn't gone in many of the rooms.
Find out what happened to Billy, Creepella, and the 13 ghosts by reading the book.

I recommend this story to people that like ghosts, bats, and slime because there’s heaps of those in there!

Ella's Book Review

The Mysterious Cheese Thief.

Author: Geronimo Stilton.
Illustrator: Silvia Bigolin.

A thief has stolen all of the stilton cheese and Geronimo, the kind, ‘fraidy’, but adventurous mouse, Thea the adventurous mouse, Trap the naughty and hungry mouse, and Benjamin the kind and loving mouse, have to find the thief! On their way they have to search for clues to track the thief down. It’s indeed a very exciting ending!
My recommendation would be to people that like adventure stories because this story has real adventure and things like that could happen to you in real life!

Amelia Jane Again

Author: Enid Blyton
Illustrator: Deborah Allwright

This story takes place in a baby nursery. The toys in the nursery are having a party without Amelia Jane because she has been very mean to them.  They take off their shoes so they can go in the doll’s house and do some baking and dancing.

While they are dancing, Amelia Jane sneaks up and takes their shoes and stuffs them down a mouse hole. Then Amelia Jane rushes to a dark corner and pretends to read. The toys stop dancing and go to put their shoes and socks on but they aren’t there. They look around very puzzled.

Amelia Jane did not tell them what she had done until the next night. One by one, she brought the shoes out but the mice had chewed the shoes up. Amelia Jane was so sorry to see what had happened.

I recommend this story to people who like kids and toys.

Rainbow Magic: Vanessa the Dance Steps Fairy.

Author: Daisy Meadows.

I read Rainbow Magic: Vanessa the Dance Steps Fairy. It’s about when two girls named Kristy and Rachel help a fairy with an adventure. Some goblins took Vanessa’s magical clef so they could dance better.

At the start, Vanessa tries to save the day but Kristy and Rachel save the day with some special moves and a bit of magic.

I recommend this to people who like fairy adventures because it is all about fairies and magic.

Curiosity Killed the Cat.

Author: Sierra Harinann.

This story takes place at Hannah’s home (she is a teenager)

Hannah has a cat and one day her cat disappears. Hannah looks for her cat but then she finds out her cat has died. At school Hannah’s classmates never know Hannah is being haunted by her dead cat.

I would recommend this book for children 8 years old and up because a cat disappears and then curiosity killed the cat.

Piper Reed: Navy Brat

Author: Kimberley Willis Holt
Illustrator: Christine Davenier

The story takes place in Arizona, mostly on the Navy base. Piper’s family moves to the base. At the base there are a lot of flowers and trees. Piper wants a puppy so Piper’s mum gives her one.  They name it Peaches. Piper fakes that she is in the Navy because she puts her back and legs straight. It’s funny because her dad is the Navy Chief and she wants to be like him.  On their way to base, Piper’s family plays I spy and other games. Piper is funny, awesome and likes relaxing.

A boy Kurt, who is in Piper’s class does cross eyes and pokes his tongue out at Piper.  He is a funny character.

I recommend this book for people that like moving because this story is about moving and going to new places.

Goose Bump Reader: Beware you choose the scare!

This story takes place at a science lab. The characters are me and Sam. Sam is adventurous and silly. I am myself in the book. We are tricked by Oscar the monkey. Oscar is seeing how smart the people who work in the lab are.

I recommend this Goose Bumps book to people over 7 years old because otherwise you could get scared! It is also a choose your own path book, so if you like to  read  those type of  books you will like this one.

Geronimo Stilton Rumble in the Jungle

The book starts at Geronimo’s house in New Mouse City where he then goes on an adventure to Brazil with his friends Wild Willie and Maya.

Geronimo is a lazy mouse, Wild Willie likes adventures and does karate and Maya is Wild Willie’s cousin who also loves adventures. Geronimo is forced to go on the adventure to Brazil by his friend, Bruce Hyena. He has to help save the villagers where his task is to go into the rainforest to conquer his way through and save the heart of light and get a new Face book page.

I recommend that people who like adventures should read this book because they might follow the adventures in the book and be a real adventurer!

Chocolate Reviews...

The Clinkers Raspberry Chips Marshmallow Chocolate feels like rocky road ice cream and looks like a mine because the lollies look like jewels. It smells like a mars bar because of the caramel. It tastes like a lolly salad. I recommend it for a snack because the pieces are small and it gives you some sugar to keep you going. I give it a 7 out 10 because it is a bit too crunchy.

The Clinkers Raspberry Chip Marshmallow

As I smell the chocolate, something new went straight into my nose like a marshmallow and raspberry smell. I had a little taste of chocolate and it was like an explosion in my mouth - it was a bit of everything!  The bottom of it felt hard and rocky and the top felt smooth like silk. I recommend this product to people that like bitter food.

Jelly Popping Candy Beanies - I do recommend this product because  when  you take a bite  of it  and put it next to someone’s  ear,  they will hear the pop of the candy and it will be a great treat.
Reviewed by: Natalia

The second chocolate I am reviewing is Jelly Popping  Candy Beanies - my favourite. It smells like M and Ms  and I can see M and Ms poking out of the side of the piece with different colours in the middle. It feels hard and crunchy and tastes like bubbles   popping inside of my mouth. It is a sweet chocolate. I recommend   this chocolate to everybody that likes chocolate with bubbles and popping candy.

Clinkers Gummi Bears Choc Biscuit

The chocolate smells like flowers. I see holes like air bubbles, it feels like an orange skin. I like it because it has gummy bears and oreos in it.
Reviewed by: O'Meara-Jean

The Clinkers Gummi Bears Choc Biscuit was a little strong but still sweet. It is very smooth to touch but it has very rough corners. I think I would recommend this to people because  it is sugary.

Writing Reviews - Chocolate!

As part of writing, we are learning to write reviews about different products.  Today we reviewed 3 different chocolates from the Cadbury Marvellous Creations range - Clinkers Raspberry Chips Marshmallow, Jelly Popping Candy Beanies, and Clinkers Gummi Bears Choc Biscuit.

We had to record our thoughts about each chocolate on an observation chart, using our senses to guide us:

Reviewers in action:

What does the chocolate look like?

What does the chocolate feel like?
What does the chocolate smell like?

What is the chocolate's texture?
What does the chocolate taste like?
Some completed reviews about chocolate will be published soon, so keep an eye out...

What does a good review need to include?
Why do we need to use our senses to review food?
